In Search of Snow

This was a crazy busy week. We had something going on every night, our giving calendar to keep up with during the day, along with school, work, and moving Nanny into a new nursing home. I spent a lot of time in the car to and from, to and from.

Thursday was no exception. We needed to go Christmas shopping for Nana, go to the girls school Christmas cookie party, visit Nanny, surprise Nana at school with apple cider and Christmas carols (giving calendar), and celebrate Christmas with Nana that night before she left for Georgia. So we're at the mall rushing, and all the girls want to do is play on the playground. But there's just not time! Rush rush rush...it's Christmas time! Then Chris says, "let's just make a day of it. We'll shop, play on the playground, get lunch together as a family, and see Nanny later this afternoon."

So that's what we did. It was wonderful! The girls missed the cookie party, but we got ice cream instead. Kinley and Foster fell asleep on the way home, so we kept driving...up towards Thumb Butte where the snowy clouds hung low and promising. We found a beautiful, snowy spot, and Chris and Harper walked around 'crunching' the snow as Harper says. It was shadowy, quiet, peaceful. It was special. As this time of year should be. As our time together as a family should be.

I need to remember this.
