Heroes

I love days like today where we stop and truly appreciate what others have done for us, for our families, children, and friends. Our country sometimes feels so divided and hateful with all the political changes over the last decade or so. Or has it always been this way, but Facebook and other social medias have just amplified the voices?

Regardless, I'm thankful for today, where the common theme in our nation is gratitude, because we have much to be thankful for. Having lived in a third-world country, I truly am grateful for this home of ours. I'm thankful to everyone who has, is, and will serve to protect it. And a special thank you to my friend and hero Matthew Freeman, who lost his life defending this great country of ours. Please read about him here. His mother started Matthew Bears, an incredible project to bless other families of those who have fallen.

Yesterday Harper learned about heroes and Veterans Day at school. They got to color pictures for the heroes of our country. But Harper wanted to color an extra hero picture for her daddy, cause he is her hero. She has such a beautiful heart, and those two couldn't have a tighter bond!

"Dear Dad, I love my daddy. You're a hero because you fix things."

Chris is currently in Myanmar working at an orphanage, building them an aquaponics system to provide food for the children long after his team has returned home. We are so proud of him, and he is our hero!

Today we are thankful for...

Rachel: my mom, who is also a Veteran. She had the day off from school and spent it with us. She took the girls to dance for me, took us out to lunch, came with us to the girls' dentist appointment, and spent time with us at home. I'm so so thankful that she lives so close, and for everything she does for us!

Harper: Ms. Brooke (her amazing teacher who came over for dinner, played with the girls, and read them a bedtime story while I put Foster to bed...I'm thankful for her, too! Who says I can't list two things?)

Kinley: pizza. (I didn't take a picture, but it was pretty good veggie pizza, and the girls ate it up! Yeah, I'm also thankful for pizza...I really love food.)

Foster: he wouldn't say, but probably flying on my feet. We had some really great play/snuggle time today! (I am definitely thankful for that, too! He is one special boy.)

I have much to be grateful for!!
