Harper is 7 Month's Old Today!

I know 7 months doesn't sound like a long time. But when did she get so BIG!? On one hand, I feel like she's always been a part of our lives. But at the same time it seems like there's no way she can do all the things she can do in only 7 months. In the very beginning of one of my many baby books, there is a list of baby's milestones that you can check off as she accomplishes them. Here are the milestones that little baby Harper has accomplished:
  • Smiles
  • Lifts Head
  • Laughs Out Loud
  • Tracks a Moving Object
  • Discovers Hands
  • Bats at a Toy
  • Reaches for an Object
  • Sleeps Through the Night (well, once upon a time...)
  • Eats Solid Food
  • Sits Supported
  • Rolls Over Both Ways
  • Shakes a Rattle
  • Discovers Feet
  • Drinks from a Cup
  • Holds a Bottle (or in her case a sippy cup)
  • Sits Alone
  • Stands with Support
This isn't on the list, but yesterday she started shaking her head. Granted, she doesn't know that it means no, but it's so cute when she does it! She also plays games. When I lay her on her changing table, she gives me this funny concerned look where she furrows her brow and opens her mouth into an "o" shape and takes little breaths and then all of a sudden, freaks out laughing and flailing! And then she's right back to her serious face. Hilarious!! Right now we're working on clapping hands, waving, saying "mama" and "dada", and crawling. I can hardly believe I'm even saying that!

She already gets where she wants to go by rolling around. But yesterday while she was on her belly, she actually lifted up on her toes, which is another step towards crawling! And now when I feed her she grabs my hand with each bite and pulls the spoon into her mouth.

I know it will get much crazier once she actually starts crawling, but I'm just so proud of her and excited to see her grow. She's so amazing! Congrats on all your accomplishments little monkey!

She's Already Giving Her Daddy Attitude!

I would first of all like to apologize for the fact that I can't seem to get a straight video on my phone! I'll work on that...

So when my mom came to visit in April, she taught Harper how to blow raspberries. For a while she would only do them when she was mad, which was pretty funny! The other night, however, she was doing them just for fun, and making sure her daddy heard her. She cracks me up!

Just When You Think You've Got Them Figured Out...

Harper has always been a good sleeper from about the time she figured out the difference between night and day. She would only wake to eat and then go right back to sleep. No rocking, no pacifier, I'd just lay her down, tuck her in, and away she slept. At about 3 months she was sleeping a good 10 hours without a peep.

That feels like such a long time ago... Now I'm lucky to get 4 hours of consecutive shut-eye. She wants a pacifier to fall asleep, she wants to roll around and keep exercising, she wants her room cold, she wants to hang out. I always thought sleeping got better as they got older, and now I'm realizing it's just the opposite. Whether it's excitement from the day or painful gums, there's always something that causes her to wake up!

Just when you think you've got them figured out, everything changes!!

But not just in the bad things, it's in everything! Like today, I had no baby food with us at breakfast (oops!), so I grabbed a banana and mashed it up and fed it to her. It was her first time eating something that wasn't strained and she loved it! Who would have known she was ready for that? It was so cute watching her chew the banana with her little gums!! She's not a big fan of bananas in a baby food jar, but she definitely loves the real deal. I think we're gonna try an avocado next.

It really is amazing how quickly they change. I love watching her grow and develop her personality and sense of humor, her likes and dislikes...

I may be running on very little sleep these days, but I've never been happier! Watching Harper really reach for me for the first time yesterday, seeing her chew a banana, watching her do her squats while she attempts to stand, and putting her in one spot only to find her in a totally different spot seconds later are some of my favorite things.

I love being a mom.

Harper Grey Holohan

Harper Grey was born at 1:42pm in Prescott, AZ on December 31, 2009. And yes...6 months later I am finally getting around to updating our baby blog!

I don't even know where to begin. I have never known love like this! It's crazy how many different kinds of love you can feel for different people. Loving my family is my favorite thing in the world! And loving God, thanking Him for entrusting me with this beautiful little girl, it's amazing to me. Amazing how He created each of us so intricately and beautifully. So yes, I am just all around in love!

Harper is 6 months old now. She sits on her own, she's starting to say ba-ba-ba, she loves veggies, she's not so sure of bananas, she has the funniest poop face in the world, she loves when I wave at her and LOVES watching people clap, she looks like her dad, she's crazy about the Danes, she actually gets excited when we open the computer to skype with family, she's enthralled with watching her dad play guitar, and the list goes on...

She's amazing, and we love her so so much! At this very moment she is chirping in her jumper, listening to music, and having a good time.

And now it's time for baby's oatmeal. Here are a few more pics, but check out my flickr page to see her monthly pictures. Click here to see more of our beautiful Harper: http://www.flickr.com/photos/holohanfamily/
