1:06

So it's 1:06 in the morning and Rachel is having some real intense contractions. They have been building over the past couple of days and now they are really painful. Right now we are at 5:52 between contractions and this number has been steadily dropping from about 10 minute intervals a few hours ago. We are just trying to relax at home until they are close enough to go to the hospital. Cheers.

Braxton Hicks Contractions...Hmmm

I am definitely no longer a stranger to the sensation of Braxton Hicks contractions. I've been having them for a while now, but they have been increasing over the last week. Christmas day I stayed very busy, possibly overdoing it a bit I confess, and had so many contractions! They didn't hurt of course, nor were they regular, so I knew I wasn't in labor. But I can't say I didn't hope!

Now that the 9 month point is finally here, I am anxious for this baby to come. Not so much due to discomfort, as the fact that it is harder and harder to go to work these days. First there's the Holidays, plus the excitement of our new baby's arrival, added to the fact that my brain cells are definitely decreasing! Yeah, I don't want to go to work tomorrow. All I want to do right now is think about Baby Holohan and nest! But, hey, not much longer now. And thanks to those Braxton Hicks contractions, hopefully my body will be a little more prepared than before. The hospital bag is packed, the car seat is in the car, and we are ecstatic about meeting our new little baby!

Week 36

Well, I guess I skipped a whole month! November was quite an eventful month. I got a head cold, and my heart started racing very badly. So I went to my doctor, who referred me to a cardiologist...that's always scary when you're only 29 years old. The forms I filled out in the beginning actually asked where I retired from! To make a long story short, after an EKG, Echo, blood work, and a 24 hour heart monitor, they don't know what's wrong. So their conclusion: I'm pregnant. Awesome. My OB is mildly concerned, but not too bad. They will just keep an eye on it when I go into labor.

So that said, I've been exhausted! My heart rate when I'm sleeping is between 90-120 bpm. So I literally have been running a marathon pretty much nonstop. But otherwise, everything with baby is going just great! Baby is strong, normal heartbeat thankfully, moving a ton even still, and ready to go! Head is down, baby has dropped, and next week they start to check to see if I'm dilated. I can't believe how close we are!!! Nursery is almost finished, we got our glider put together yesterday, and it's looking good and cozy in here. We'll try to post some belly pictures this weekend. My little turkey timer popped Thanksgiving week appropriately enough! So stay tuned...there is more to come!
